REACH Communities Development
MISSION AND VISION
REACH Communities Development is a 501c3 organization located and active in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. Their mission is to empower the community by offering them training in a variety of skills and providing lounge and recreational space for healthy interaction.

The project is the adaptive reuse of an existing school affiliated with the REACH in Washington Heights neighborhood of Chicago, converting into a technology and coding training center and broadcasting with the addition of a new construction gymnasium and fitness center facility . The total project area is 12,000 sf of existing building conversion and 14,000 sf a new construction addition. Adaptive reuse program consists of classrooms, broadcasting room and sound studio, admin offices, meeting rooms, utility and service rooms, and new construction addition encompasses a basketball court, fitness and weight rooms, community game and events room. This will be a two-phase process; renovation of the existing space- which is currently under way- and addition of the gymnasium which is currently under permit review.

ORGANIZATION SUSTAINABILITY
REACH Communities Development is a financially self-sufficient organization with effective outreach and fundraising strategies in place. The community center will remain financially sustainable by corporate sponsorship, grants and financial assistance from foundations, private and public entities, as well as leasing the spaces to other organizations for use in technology and coding, broadcasting and video/audio production or recreational activities.

Revival Resources board president has been working closely with REACH since 2020, as the lead architect and designer assisting and providing in-kind donation for a range of services. Revival Resources has provided services such as creating renderings and marketing materials and recruiting in-kind discounted or delayed paid services from engineering firms for the project’s design, permit and construction needs.
